This module is designed to help students to better understand the difference between police officers and transit officers (rail safety officers), identify special rights and protections available to young people when interacting with police, where to turn to for help, their right to silence, and where to go if they are treated unfairly by the police or transit officers. It is noted that this module is not intended to replace professional legal advice and if a young person has had an incident involving either the police or transit officers they should speak to a professional to obtain legal advice specific to their circumstances.
All of our resources are free to download and use. If you have any questions about the materials, or would like to request changes/corrections, you can contact us here.
Please note that this module has been uploaded in draft form for feedback and testing – it should be noted that we cannot guarantee the legal accuracy of draft modules.
